
This PhD focuses on the identifying novel business models and innovations for marine plastic management. The research involves a literature review of sustainable plastic business models to understand the theoretical and practical opportunities for businesses to improve sustainability for plastics. This is followed by an extensive review of the emerging marine plastic management startup industry including interviews and analysis on the drivers and barriers for these new ventures. Finally, the research will zoom out to analyse how entrepreneurs working on plastic are contributing to a transition towards more sustainable plastic production and consumption systems.
