The transition to renewable energy sources has an impact on the landscape. In general there is a public support for renewable energy, but often when initiatives are to be implemented they are faced with local resistance. Therefor public acceptance is considered one of the keys for a successful transition to renewable energy. One approach to improve public acceptance is to emphasis ‘landscape quality’ in the landscape design. The combination and possible connection of landscape quality and public acceptance is the motivation for this research in to the possibilities for solar energy to enrich the landscape.
