The project aims to improve the capabilities of Ethiopian Universities to provide the right service to communities in the field of small-scale irrigation (SSI) and micro irrigation (MI), to improve agricultural production and livelihood. The project will enable Arba Minch University (AMU) and the members of University Water Sector Partnership (UWSP) to produce competent graduates who can provide services leading to sustainable SSI/MI systems, in a gender sensitive way in line with labour market demands. The strengthening of AMU will include: (1) improved leadership and management skills at AMU- Institute of Technology (IOT) and SSI department to ensure quality, relevance, and gender sensitive training and research, so that the future highly skilled graduate will provide the right advice and service to the people, (2) improve capabilities, curricula and facilities to provide high quality training, (3) improved capabilities to produce good gender-sensitive research that meets the need of the labour market and communities.
