Integrating bottom-up and top-down methods to estimate the variability of the Siberian carbon balance

Zotino Tall Tower Observatory (ZOTTO) is a continental long-term atmospheric monitoring station in Central Siberia which documents and helps to quantify the anticipated changes in biogeochemical cycling in this important but observation-poor region of the globe. This study employs a combination of observational and modeling approaches, utilizing ZOTTO’s continuous atmospheric greenhouse gases measurements, to explore the interannual variability of the carbon balance in high-latitude Siberian ecosystems. This research aims to bridge the gap in understanding the seasonal carbon dynamics and their environmental controls in high-latitude ecosystems within a warming climate.
