The Coastmove project will assess the effects of future sea level rise, extreme flood events, and urbanization pressure on coastal flood risk. In the absence of costly flood protection measures in numerous regions, millions of coastal residents will be forced to migrate to safer locations. A global coastal flood risk model and an agent based model are combined to simulate migration flows and to model adaptive behavior. In my PhD research I contribute to developing a global agent based model and I apply econometric techniques to estimate the impact of floodings on migration in order to validate the migration patterns simulated by the agent based model.
