SENSE aims to function as a school for PhD education and training in environmental and sustainability sciences, a national academic research network in this field and a bridge to society for sustainable solutions.
School
- determining the minimum requirements for the education and training programme (TSP) of SENSE PhD candidates and the SENSE certificate for advanced PhD training
- offering an introductory course to new SENSE PhDs
- coordinating environmental impact assignments of SENSE PhDs
- stimulating the development of joint PhD courses
- creating an overview of all PhD courses offered by the SENSE partners open to all PhD candidates of the SENSE institutes
Network
- organising an internal SENSE symposium almost every year
- supporting the development of research networks of staff and PhDs on topical issues
Bridge
- organising SENSE symposia and workshops to exchange information and research results with stakeholders on topical issues.
- SENSE researchers are closely involved in advisory boards and committees on national and international environmental issues.
