SENSE offers a wide selection of courses that are relevant for SENSE PhD candidates. Considering the broadness of SENSE, it is impossible to provide a complete package of courses that include all SENSE related research subjects. Here we give an overview of research institutes and portals where you can find relevant PhD courses outside SENSE.

The C.T. de Wit Graduate School for Production Ecology and Resource Conservation (PE&RC)
This school is a collaborative research and PhD/postdoc training institution of Wageningen University (WU), working on fundamental and strategic issues related to agricultural production systems and sustainable land use. Up to 1999 the Graduate School was known as the Graduate School Production Ecology (PE). Their courses are listed on www.pe-rc.nl / Courses and Activities.

The Wageningen School of Social Sciences (WASS)
promotes top-quality research that increases our understanding of social processes and design practices around challenges and opportunities in the sphere of agriculture, food, health, environment and development. WASS provides a home for internationally oriented scholars with diverse disciplinary expertise and research traditions, and wishes to create an enabling environment for disciplinary, interdisciplinary and trans-disciplinary work. WASS strives to make high-quality academic contributions and also to critically engage in societal debates and contribute to societal problem solving and innovation. WASS offers in-depth PhD training that provides students with a suitable background for a career in academic and applied research, policy-making, or other leading societal positions.

Research School Ecology & Evolution (RSEE)
RSEE was established in February 2009 as a local research school within the research institute, Centre for Ecological and Evolutionary Studies (CEES) at the University of Groningen and is adminstered under the Groningen Graduate School of Science (GGSS). RSEE works closely with other national institutes and research schools throughout the country in order to ensure the timely availability of specialized advanced courses, master classes, summer schools and meetings for PhD students. Tinbergen Institute
The Tinbergen Institute is the institute for economic research.

Biotech Delft Postgraduate Education
BioTech Delft organises biotechnology education at postgraduate level. BioTech Delft is coordinated from the department of Biotechnology of Delft University of Technology. Since its foundation, in 1987, BioTech Delft has very successfully organised various types of postdoctoral education..

Netherlands Ecological Research Network (NERN)
Courses in the field of Ecology, methodologcal courses, skills and competence courses relevant for ecologists are listed on the NERN website.

Postgraduate Education in Toxicology (PET)
The Postgraduate Education in Toxicology (PET) is the Dutch national programme for vocational postgraduate training in toxicology. See also the PET course schedule.

The Helmholtz Interdisciplinary GRADuate School for Environmental Research (HIGRADE)
HIGRADE aims to provide a coherent framework for qualifying a new generation of internationally competitive doctoral researchers in the field of environmental research. We intend to prepare the doctoral researchers for careers in a range of environmental fields, i.e. for taking over leading positions in research, management and policy, technology development, or consulting and education.

Most universities offer general skill courses to their own PhD students. These courses can be included into your TSP. We have created an overview of course websites. If you browse the university websites yourself, you will probably find even more opportunities.

Career development activities at KNAW

The Academy considers talent development, training, and the right support for general skills development important. That’s why it has set up the Center for Career & Development. The Center for Career & Development is there to answer all your questions about career development and training.
