SENSE symposium 2023 “Science and Impact”

  • 15 November 2023
  • 9:30 - 17:30
  • VU Amsterdam
  • SENSE
We live in challenging times, pressing socio-environmental radical transformations and escalating hydro-climatic extreme events menace our future. Scientist and academics have a central responsibility to navigate and respond to these complex threats. The role of scientists in addressing complex “wicked” sustainability problems is not only relegated to analytical efforts, it also entails normative questions, relations of power, positionality and representation. But how can scientist produce impact, influence decisions and be societally involved, while maintaining their academic role and standards? This is the overarching question that will characterize the SENSE symposium organized around a Keynote Lecture of Prof. Lyla Mehta, three different workshops on Communication and Creativity, Activism and Career Development and a PhD student posters session.

We hope you will join and look forward to having fruitful and inspiring discussions!

The Symposium will be held at VU Amsterdam from 9:30-17:30, with breaks and closing drinks.
