IHE PhD Symposium 2023: “Water in the Context of the Triple Planetary Crisis: Climate change, Biodiversity loss and Pollution”

We are pleased to announce the upcoming 17th PhD Symposium on “Water in the Context of the Triple Planetary Crisis: Climate change, Biodiversity loss and Pollution” on October 19th and 20th. This symposium aims to bring together brilliant minds from around the world to address the urgent challenges posed by the triple planetary crisis: climate change, biodiversity loss, and water scarcity.
A workshop and a panel discussion with experts will also be included in this year symposium.

All SENSE PhD candidates are cordially invited to participate. Participation is free.

Call for Abstracts

We invite abstract submissions from PhD candidates actively working on topics related to the Triple Planetary Crisis and its intersections with water resources management, environmental engineering, climate science, ecological restoration, policy development, technologies development and other relevant disciplines. The symposium aims to encourage collaborative discussions and knowledge exchange, as well as to explore potential pathways towards achieving sustainable solutions. Participation is free and register here if you’re interested.

Key Themes

Submissions should align with one or more of the following theme:

  1. Water and biodiversity loss
  2. Water and climate change
  3. Water and pollution
  4. Water and technology

Submission Guidelines

Abstracts should be written in English and not exceed 300 words. You can download the abstract template here.
Please provide a clear title, list of authors, affiliations, and contact information.
Abstracts must include the research objective, methodology, key findings, and implications for addressing the Triple Planetary Crisis.

Important Dates

  • Abstract Submission Deadline: September 15th
  • Notification of Acceptance: September 25th

Selected participants will be invited to present their research during the PhD Symposium, where they will have the opportunity to engage with experts, academics, and fellow researchers working on similar challenges. We look forward to your contributions in advancing the discourse on the Triple Planetary Crisis.

About the Symposium

The symposium will be hosted at IHE Delft institute for water education in Delft, the Netherlands on October 19th and 20th.
While physical attendance at the event is recommended and encouraged, attendees who cannot attend physically can participate virtually.
Oral presentations and Poster sessions will be available for participants.
