Special, 15th edition of PhD Symposium at IHE Delft will provide a unique opportunity for PhD fellows to present their research, receive feedback from a group of experts from IHE Delft and other universities, and network with PhDs working on a broad range of topics. A hybrid format, combination of both in-person and online, would enable to engage interested early-career scholars and young researchers from the Netherlands, and also from outside.
The theme of the 2021 edition is Collaborative water resource management for a water secure world. As water-related challenges pose threats to millions of people in terms of food, energy and socio-environmental security, there is an unprecedented need to join efforts, work together and share knowledge towards building sustainable water management with a holistic perspective. Therefore, reflecting this call in academic field, it is essential to provide platform for exchanges on state-of-the-art science related to integrated water resources management and collaboration strategies, and space for networking among doctoral candidates.
The Symposium aims at showcasing latest trends in water resources management-related science through keynote speeches of prominent scholars and presentations of PhD researches during two days. Besides, there will be a room for two skills-building workshops which would help doctoral candidates to advance their knowledge in science communication and networking for interdisciplinary research.
Participants would be given opportunity to present their research in one of the following thematic sessions:
- Ecosystem maintenance and restoration
- Socio-economics and water governance
- Integrated water resources management
- Adaptation, risk and resilience
- Innovative tools for water planning and management
Participation in the event is free of charge.
All SENSE PhD candidates are invited to participate!
